The Summary

Like everybody else on this planet, I really love music. Much like everyone else, I too believe that I am special and hear things that others don’t. I’ve always been fascinated by music vizualisations as a way to achieve that. A journey which started when I came across Suraya Shivji’s amazing musicvizz project.
In undergoing this journey I ended up -
  • Learning p5.js
    ‍‍
  • Trying (and failing) to learn WebGL and Three.js
    ‍‍
  • Exploring Hydra, Live Coding and Finding out about Algoraves
  • Finding solace in TouchDesigner, and forcing myself through the steep learning curve involved

Static Art

What is generative art?
Art created through the use of autonomous systems, such as algorithms or machines. The various implementation of these “generative” processes yields a range of results, from works that are rigidly ordered to those that rely largely on chance and randomization.

I first came across this thanks to the amazing Mathura and Rasagy, and a Creative Coding workshop I happened upon. Being someone who's always been bad at making conventional art, it felt good to make pretty stuff.

My process is usually highly experimental. I might be just playing around, and come across some unexpected behaviour and then proceed to explore that.

These are some generative pieces I made in p5.js -

Making Pixels Dance

After a lot of trial and error that I will not be boring you with, I found out about TouchDesigner and got one step to closer to making audio-reactive art.
